As at June 2004, women held 32.2 per cent of Commonwealth controlled positions on Australian Government Boards and 31.6 per cent of senior executive service positions in the Australian Public Service.

As at 30 June 2004, there were approximately 1,800 indigenous women employed in the Australian Public Service,4 of whom 113 were employed at the executive level, and 9 were members of the senior executive service.
