A question was raised as to whether draft article 89(a) would introduce exemption of liability in the non maritime legs of the carriage in case of multimodal transport.

The least developed countries faced a worrying situation with regard to the development of multimodal transport, and challenges included the limited availability of transport equipment, precarious infrastructure, and complex and onerous administrative procedures.

But the remaining train drivers right to strike is sufficient to threaten Germany with chaos in the transport system.

Notable in each case is the significant impact of the availability of materials and the availability of pack animals or other forms of transport on the ultimate form of the shelters.

Both Germany and Turkey maintained bilateral treaties with Afghanistan in the potentially incompatible area of air transport neither treaty makes provision for the outbreak of armed conflict.

As to the question whether the words intended carriage cover all parts of the carriage and not only the sea carriage, a majority of the delegations have felt that the text is clear and that there is no need to clarify that the goods must be packed and stowed in order to withstand the sea carriage as well as the ancillary land carriages.
