On 16 February, the Council held an open briefing followed by closed consultations on the report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur, established under its resolution 1564 (2004).

The meetings typically consist of two segments a closed session reserved for inter agency discussion of common issues and an open session for exchanges with the local business community.

On 13 January, the Council held an open meeting at which the Under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Kieran Prendergast, gave his regular briefing on the situation in the Middle East.
