Financial implications and cost sharing arrangements

If burdens are to be shared, decisions must be shared as well.

The Profit Sharing Economy

In May 2004, WFP finalized guidelines on cost sharing arrangements with cooperating partners, developed through consultation and negotiation with its major NGO partners.

These resources have been complemented by cost sharing contributions from the Government of Japan totalling 31.5 million (since 1996) that have been channelled to UNDP under the Japan Human Resources Development Fund.

Why do the benefits of growth seem to be easier to share than are the burdens of adversity? This is not a trivial question.

The eurozone and refugee crises have common features that make them tricky to resolve. Both involve disputes about sharing costs, complicated by a clash of values, at the center of which lies a newly dominant Germany.

In order to enhance ownership by other partners in the system, financial arrangements, including cost sharing, between the agencies participating in the United Nations country team could be envisaged for the country coordination plan itself.
