These claims were referred to as extra and extraordinary costs, for which they sought reimbursement by the United Nations.

Owing to the lack of sufficient voluntary contributions to UNFICYP, the latest reimbursement to the troop contributing Governments for extra and extraordinary costs was made in June 1992 and covered claims for the six month period ending December 1981.

United Nations reimbursement cost increases are calculated on the 2005 base.

The estimates are based on the actual strength of 15,485 personnel as at 31 July 2005 and the planned deployment of an additional 329 personnel by 31 October 2005, provide for troop rotations, reimbursement to troop contributing countries for standard troop costs, major equipment and rations and include provisions for death and disability compensation.

The resulting net requirements ( 19,859,720) are financed from the reimbursement of support costs pertaining to technical cooperation and other services. Details related to technical cooperation delivery and support cost income estimates are shown in tables 1 and 2(b).

The UNITAR General Fund is financed from voluntary contributions made by Governments, intergovernmental organizations, foundations and other non governmental sources, as well as from the programme support costs reimbursement income generated by expenditures of the Special Purpose Grants Fund.

This amount was inclusive of extrabudgetary costs amounting to 642,400 to be funded by a number of member organizations and comprised 35,671,100 for administrative costs, 43,014,100 for investment costs and 1,443,200 for audit costs.

Iran seeks compensation for expenses incurred in treating these additional cases indirect costs such as transportation costs costs incurred by caregivers opportunity costs and costs of future medical care.

The resources requested by the Secretary Chief Executive Officer for the biennium 2006 2007 comprised 61,881,300 for administrative costs, 66,757,800 for investment costs and 1,720,600 for audit costs.
