The Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals held its second session in Geneva on 10 December 2004.

The proposal will be revised by the task force on the basis of comments received and then circulated to the OECD Task Force on Harmonization of Classification and Labelling, the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling and the United Nations Subcommittee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods.

Recommendation contained in the report of the Secretary General on the work of the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals

The Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals recommends to the Economic and Social Council the adoption of the following draft resolution

(c) Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals second session, 10 December 2004 (ST SG AC.10 32 and Add.1 3).

Having considered the report of the Secretary General on the work of the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals1 during the biennium 2003 2004,

Having considered the report of the Secretary General on the work of the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals during the biennium 2003 2004,

It had before it the report of the Secretary General on the work of the Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (E 2005 53).

The most important checks are the following Availability of licenses import permits Consistency of documentation regarding codes and names Origin of the goods imported Physical examination of containers (packaging, labelling, etc.) If the imported goods are classified under green line , Customs will assign a declaration number and then release it, sometimes with only minimal document review.

(iv) Implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals

Amendments to the Globally Harmonized System of classification and labelling of chemicals (GHS)

Requests the Secretary General to submit a report to the Economic and Social Council in 2005 on the implementation of the present resolution, the Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

Also requests the Secretary General to submit a report to the Economic and Social Council in 2005 on the implementation of the present resolution, the recommendations on the transport of dangerous goods and on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals.

16.12 This strategy also applies to the Economic and Social Council Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods and the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals and its subsidiary bodies, to which the Transport Division also provides a secretariat.

B Work of the Committee regarding the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals

Instructions concerning the required labelling of hazardous or explosive materials during transport have also been issued.

Several regulations in developed countries apply stringent rules on food quality, packaging and labelling.

b. Discuss the need, and if appropriate develop a proposal, for a hierarchy of labelling elements for chemicals presenting multiple hazards

Where licensing systems have been effectively implemented, criminal groups have resorted to other methods, such as false labelling.

Transport of dangerous goods

It's more expensive to transport goods. Prices of goods go up, inflation is affected.

The reform of forestry policy is introducing two important innovations (i) preparation of forest management plans and (ii) adoption of forest certification and labelling systems.

Some wholesale merchants only organize the movement of goods rather than move the goods themselves.

Countries that want to follow their own path of social development are subjected to harassment and labelling, and are proclaimed to be rogue States .

However, current methodology requires extensive manual handling, 100 per cent inspection and labelling of all assets and 30 to 100 per cent inspection of all expendables.

Goods Release

Goods passing through Australian ports as transhipped goods are subject to the same export controls as goods being exported from Australia.

Aside from importing basic goods, China exports manufactured goods throughout the region.
