Parties are required to take actions to promote application and development of measures to reduce and eliminate releases of listed unintentionally produced POPs, such as dioxins and furans.

It might be possible to provide metering for individual items of manufacturing equipment (e.g. an induction furnace) to detect frequency and duration of use or to monitor the purchasing of certain chemicals common to production and finishing operations, such as chlorinated volatile organic compounds.

3.10.1.6.1 A review of the medical literature on chemical aspiration revealed that some hydrocarbons (petroleum distillates) and certain chlorinated hydrocarbons have been shown to pose an aspiration hazard in humans. Primary alcohols, and ketones have been shown to pose an aspiration hazard only in animal studies.
