If we are to get our policies right, it is crucial that we get our facts right.

We must strive to correct all the mistakes of the past and to ensure a balance between all regions and civilizations through the process of expanding the membership of the Security Council.

Thus, the time has come to redress the situation as we embark on genuine institutional reform of our Organization and for Africa to regain its legitimate rights with a view to enhancing the legitimacy and effectiveness of Security Council actions and resolutions, as well as its capacity to address the new challenges and threats faced by the international community.

Global warming should be tackled, but smartly through research and development of low carbon alternatives. If we are to get our policies right, it is crucial that we get our facts right.
