Some of our illustrious press carried a doctored translation in Arabic of what the US State Department spokesman said when asked about the deteriorating security situation in Bahrain, writes Bahraini blogger Mahmood Al Yousif.

My enthusiasm hasn't stopped since then because I always considered that conveying our voice to the world as a bright idea especially with the huge number of fallacies spread on our society by traditional media outlets and the failure of our media to promote the right image.

These very deliberate choices made by media outlets affect our reality, how well we re informed as a public.

So we want to take the content side of those citizens sending their stories and to try to use our media mighty which now has over 5000 broadcasters to showcase our issues and help citizens get some form of revenue.

Laws enacted to single out and persecute Muslims, and statements that affirm the Islamophobia of our media, buttress the absurd notion that what we are really witnessing is a war on Islam.

Our independent media need to seek out voices not only of the warmongers who make so much noise, but also of civil society leaders whose voices we do not regularly hear.
