115. In his closing statement, the Associate Administrator congratulated the President and the Bureau for the wise and very able leadership provided, as a result of which the High level Committee had completed its work expeditiously and in the most business like manner.

119. The Associate Administrator assured the Committee that UNDP would take effective follow up measures to the decisions and recommendations and urged United Nations organizations to do likewise.

On follow up to the report of the Commission for the Private Sector and Development, he illustrated the steps taken by UNDP in partnership with national counterparts, focusing on local private sector development.

He stated that option one was cost neutral whereas option two required an additional 8.2 million, to be gleaned from the 450 million base.

121. Before closing, the Associate Administrator paid special tribute to the Director of the Special Unit for TCDC and reiterated his thanks for the support, comments and guidance that the Committee has given.

25. In his opening statement, the Associate Administrator mentioned that a significant number of different types of TCDC activities had been implemented in all the regions during the two year reporting period.

The Associate Administrator noted that that was inevitable because TCDC was after all an effort of Governments with the United Nations system fulfilling a supportive role.
