After consulting with the Prosecutor and in conformity with the resolution, I am pleased to submit to you a revised version of the completion strategy of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, containing the assessment requested (see enclosure).

I should like also to express our appreciation to the President of the Gabonese Republic for the efforts made by his country in guiding the work of the previous session of the General Assembly.

But now I have great pleasure in extending a very warm welcome to our first speaker, His Excellency Mr. Kassymzhomart Tokaev, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, who will address the Conference.

Among such judicial measures, I am pleased to recall the establishment of some 40 children's courts and the training of judges for minors, which has been under way since 1999.

The Secretary General I am very pleased that the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, is with us today to present the report of the International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur.

Well, I'm very pleased to announce to you that HP and a furniture company called Steelcase have adopted us as a demonstration model for all of their technology and all their furniture for the United States of America.

In that regard, I am pleased to welcome the comments made today by Mr. Jessen Petersen and Mr. Cović with regard to prospects for the resumption of direct dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

The President I am very pleased, as President of the General Assembly, to see a record number of youth representatives in the national delegations to the sixtieth session of the General Assembly.

It is my pleasure to refer to the letter of the Vice Chairman of the Committee dated 4 June 2004, wherein he requests clarifications concerning the contents of the third report of the Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.

That is why I am pleased to welcome the decisions of the G 8 to cancel the debt of 18 developing countries, as well as other steps taken by the European Union to increase official development assistance (ODA).

President Obasanjo I am very pleased that we are meeting once more, at the summit level, to discuss financing for development three years after Monterrey.

The President I have great pleasure in welcoming His Excellency The Honourable Maatia Toafa, Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Labour of Tuvalu, and inviting him to address the General Assembly.

Mr. Choi Young jin (Republic of Korea) I am pleased to remind the Assembly that in September our leaders reaffirmed that good governance is essential for sustainable development.

I am pleased, however, that after a long period of intensive diplomatic efforts to revitalize the Beijing process, the Governments concerned demonstrated flexibility and goodwill and agreed to resume the six party talks.

Mr. Latortue (Haiti) (spoke in French) It is a pleasure for me to take the floor at this summit and to share with you the concerns and the wishes of the Haitian people on the issues being debated in this Hall.

The President I have great pleasure in welcoming Her Excellency Begum Khaleda Zia, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, and inviting her to address the General Assembly.

Mr. Hernández (Mexico) (spoke in Spanish) I am pleased to express, on behalf of my delegation, deep appreciation to the President of the International Court of Justice, Judge Shi Jiuyong, for the detailed report that he presented to the General Assembly.

It gives me pleasure to send my greetings to all the participants in this Caribbean Regional Seminar on Decolonization, which takes place during the week of solidarity with the peoples of the Non Self Governing Territories.

With reference to your letter of 10 October 2005, I am pleased to send you the additional information you requested on the measures that Italy has taken to implement Security Council resolution 1540 (2004).

In the exercise of its mandate, it has helped Iraq to accomplish another year of historic and dramatic progress on the road towards democracy and stability progress on which I am now pleased to report to the Security Council.

I am pleased to transmit herewith the assessments of the President (see annex I) and of the Prosecutor (see annex II) of the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, pursuant to paragraph 6 of Security Council resolution 1534 (2004).

Mr. Shamaa (Egypt) (spoke in Arabic) It is a pleasure for me to submit, on behalf of the Group of Arab States, the draft resolution entitled The risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East , document A C.1 60 L.6.

Mr. Al Kaabi (United Arab Emirates) (spoke in Arabic) At the outset, I should like, on behalf of the delegation of the United Arab Emirates, to thank President Eliasson for his valuable efforts in directing the activities of the current session.

We wish also to express our gratitude for the efforts exerted by Secretary General Kofi Annan to carry out the decisions of the Organization, to fulfil the goals of the Charter and to embark on a comprehensive reform process of all United Nations bodies.

In this connection, I am delighted to acknowledge the presence of Ms. Susan Gordon, the Director of the Multilateral Relations Division of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who only a few short years ago represented her country on the Special Committee at United Nations Headquarters.

With respect to the anachronistic enemy State clauses, I am pleased to note that the leaders resolved in the outcome document (resolution 60 1) to delete these obsolete clauses from the Charter at the earliest opportunity.
