We are three lonely women.

Each of these women feels alone.

Of all women aged 15 to 45 in the labour force, 18.2 are single mothers.

The evidence established that the overwhelming majority of persons affected i.e. whose benefits have been terminated are women, and most of those are single mothers, one of the most disadvantaged groups in Canada.

Furthermore, mutations have been reported in the genes coding for potassium voltage gated channel, Shaw related subfamily, member 4 (Kv3.4) and sodium channel protein type 4 subunit alpha (Na41.4).

Teachers, as well, who were single mothers or became pregnant were protected by the legislation on the rights of teachers, which granted them, at all levels of education, six weeks of paid maternity leave before and after birth and special nursing and rest privileges.

Women are 58 per cent of the population over 65, they often live alone and, living in rural areas without pension or other benefits, they are most exposed to living conditions below the poverty line.
