The oceans and seas are invaluable to the welfare of humanity, providing living and non living marine resources and vital means of transportation.

(b) Increased opportunities for States to derive benefits from the oceans and seas in conformity with the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Various chemicals and other dangerous substances from illegal laboratories are polluting lakes, rivers and seas and are harming both flora and fauna.

That work also reflects the central role played by the oceans and seas, including sustainable fisheries, in the future of our planet.
