San Marino would like to express its solidarity with the peoples of Israel and Palestine who both treasure an old and noble history and strongly supports the road map's objectives.

No one can visit Iraq and talk to Iraqis without coming away with the sense that ridding the world of Saddam Hussein was an important even noble accomplishment.

And, while this may seem justified by a noble goal, such policy by panic tactics rarely work, and often backfire.

Owing to the non adherence by Israel to the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, and, more importantly the refusal of that regime to place its unsafeguarded nuclear facilities under the IAEA verification system, the realization of such a zone, a lofty and long sought after aspiration of the countries in the region, has yet to materialize.
