The additional requirements under this heading are attributable to increased requirements for medical services and the acquisition of medical equipment to support the establishment of two medical forward stations in connection with the deployment of the mission to five regions.

Equipment for treatment and diagnostics, reagents, and consumable supplies were all bought to upgrade the technical facilities of the medical institutions providing this type of service.

The monitoring is conducted by diagnostics groups (25 general screening laboratories), which exist in all the larger state medical institutions, and a reference laboratory in Tallinn.

In that regard, a highly successful workshop on the calibration of monitoring equipment was carried out in Egypt from 23 February to 12 March 2004.
