Recalling the relevant provisions of declarations and programmes of action adopted by the major United Nations conferences, summits and special sessions and their follow up meetings,

(c) Supporting the implementation of decisions, recommendations and programmes of action adopted by the conferences and meetings of States parties to various multilateral arms limitation, disarmament and non proliferation agreements

The secretariat has continued to participate actively in the relevant meetings of the other two Rio conventions, including the sessions of their COPs and the meetings of the scientific and technical advisory bodies.

3. Authorizes the Committee on Conferences to make any adjustments to the calendar of conferences and meetings for 2002 2003 that may become necessary as a result of actions and decisions taken by the General Assembly at its fifty sixth session

Meetings, workshops, luncheon discussions, participation in NGO Caucuses were as many occasions during committee Sessions and PrepCom meetings to promote discussions and lobby official delegates.

(f) Providing Member States and international and non governmental organizations participating in United Nations disarmament related conferences and meetings with updated information and advisory services on arms control and disarmament.

4. Requests the Committee on Conferences to keep the matter under constant review, and requests the Secretary General to report regularly to the Committee on matters pertaining to the calendar of conferences and meetings of the United Nations during the construction period

The 15 working days for the seventh session called for in the draft resolution would require adding one week to the two weeks included in the draft calendar of conferences and meetings of the United Nations for 2006.

Much progress in energy economics has been made through the conferences of the International Association for Energy Economics, the model comparison exercises of the (Stanford) Energy Modeling Forum and the meetings of the International Energy Workshop.

The unutilized balance resulted primarily from the fact that not all the planned conferences of the Eritrea Ethiopia Border Commission and meetings of the Military Coordination Commission took place, and requirements for military escorts for evacuations were fewer than anticipated.

The Council's attention is drawn to Council decision 1988 103, in which the Council decided to invite the Committee on Conferences to review the Council's draft biennial calendar of conferences and meetings, beginning with the calendar for 1990 1991, and submit, as appropriate, its recommendations thereon to the Council.

Servicing of the Committee has been included in the draft calendar of conferences and meetings of the United Nations for 2006, under the heading Bodies whose mandates are to be presented for renewal to the General Assembly at its sixtieth session (see A 60 32, annex), which is before the Assembly for its approval.

Noting that, by paragraph (c) of its decision 55 443, it decided to include in the calendar of conferences and meetings for the biennium 2002 2003 the sessions of the Conference of the Parties and its subsidiary bodies envisaged for the biennium, in accordance with the decisions adopted by the Conference of the Parties,

The refocusing of activities on the priorities defined in the Millennium Declaration and in the documents issued by major United Nations conferences and summit meetings should go hand in hand with the concern to ensure a predictable amount of financing for essential programmes.

They have hosted seminars, workshops and meetings.

12. Notes with satisfaction that the creation of a permanent interpretation service at Nairobi offers great potential for Nairobi as a venue for United Nations conferences and meetings, and takes note with appreciation of the efforts being made by the United Nations Office at Nairobi to attract more meetings to its facilities
