The NI Unit, in its capacity as secretariat of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions (ICC) and its Accreditation Subcommittee, provided substantive support and facilitated the holding of the fourteenth and sixteenth sessions of ICC in Geneva, in parallel to the Commission on Human Rights.

The ICC Sub Committee on Accreditation continues to act in an independent capacity, though its recommendations must be endorsed by the ICC itself.

The ICC Chairperson supported the establishment of a working group (composed of representatives from each region, the ICC Chairperson and OHCHR) to study the issue further.

She had found the delegation's explanations about the composition of the National Coordination Committee confusing.

The National Coordination Committee was responsible for coordinating the work of the various governmental bodies.

We believe that the proposed Peacebuilding Commission can provide the much needed coordination.

The NI Unit has worked closely with ICC to strengthen its accreditation procedures.

To date, the ICC has accredited 50 NIs to form what is known as the Group of NIs of the ICC.

The National Coordination Committee included officials from judicial and law enforcement bodies.

The Committee commends the State party for its delegation, which was headed by the Director of the Legal Affairs Department at the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and Chairman of the National Coordination Committee, and included members of the National Coordination Committee.

In addition to the guidelines, IADC produced and agreed upon a document entitled Support to the IADC space debris mitigation guidelines .

IADC wishes to convey to the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, and in particular its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee, that the comments made that were of a non technical nature were considered beyond the terms of reference of IADC.

The Coordination Committee will consist of five members, including the Chairperson and the Rapporteur of the annual meeting.

(e) Report on the activities of the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee on space debris mitigation guidelines and supporting document , by the representative of the Inter Agency Space Debris Coordination Committee (IADC).

In particular, the National Coordination Committee could benefit from training and guidance concerning the implementation of the Convention.

The letter contains the comments received and the IADC response to those comments.

The Coordination Committee members should be in touch via internet and conference calls.

Regional coordination by members of the Chemical Review Committee in preparing and providing comments is encouraged.

(d) Chairing the Coordination and Monitoring Committee as well as playing a leading political role in peacebuilding activities in Somalia.

The ICC generally meets during the annual sessions of the Commission and holds biennial international conferences.

Owing to a lack of resources, the ICC is still unable to assess the institution through actual site visits.

There have, however, been instances where NIs which are not deemed by the ICC to be in compliance with the Paris Principles have also taken the floor.

The ICC itself has taken an initiative on the question of the role of NIs in the work of the Commission.

Any doubt about authorization could be taken up with the Coordination Committee if the concerned State so desired.

At the beginning of 2003, OIOS endorsed the Coordination Unit's initiatives and its recommendations to strengthen the role of subregional offices within ECA and encouraged the Coordination Unit to follow through with its plans to establish a web based system for the exchange of information between the offices.

57 19. Enhancing coordination in the area of international trade law and strengthening the secretariat of the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law

Inter agency cooperation within the United Nations system for the implementation of relevant resolutions of the Commission on Human Rights in regard to the right to Development

A thematic discussion on the International Convention on the Rights and Dignity of Persons with Disabilities was held during the fourteenth session of ICC, with the participation of the ICC representative to the Ad Hoc Committee on the Convention and its Working Group.

13. Requests the Secretary General to continue to provide the necessary assistance for holding meetings of the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions during the sessions of the Commission on Human Rights, in cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner

The National Coordination Committee was an independent organ of the Government, composed of leading officials from the various national administrative and judicial bodies.

This was followed by a presentation by the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and a discussion of these topics.

The Peacebuilding Commission will be the forum for all relevant actors in peacebuilding, so that coordination and delivery can be genuinely improved.

The MCC was created to provide operational policy guidance, while the Executive Board ensures overall policy directives.

The Expanded Bureau was also informed about the establishment of the Coordination Committee, to be composed of five mandate holders, to oversee the overall coordination of special procedures' activities, including within the context of the reform discussions.

15. Requests the Secretary General to continue to provide the necessary assistance for holding meetings of the International Coordinating Committee during the sessions of the Commission on Human Rights, in cooperation with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights

9. Welcomes the intention of the Committee for Programme and Coordination to enhance its dialogue on coordination issues with the Joint Inspection Unit and the secretariat of the Chief Executives Board

Pursuant to Executive Board decision 95 1 of 10 January 1995, the present report has been reviewed by the Management Coordination Committee.

In this connection, the UNOPS management is following the advice of the Management Coordination Committee and will evaluate the options for configuring future UNOPS operations.

The NI Unit of OHCHR, in consultation with the ICC, is working to strengthen the work of the Sub Committee.

Ms. Bokpé Gnacadja enquired as to the composition of the National Coordination Committee, the institutions represented on it, the nature of its programmes and activities and their impact on society.

It is the intention of IADC to produce updates of that document, which will be in line with new versions of the guidelines.
