In conclusion, it was necessary to adopt a new, more positive and dynamic strategy that would not confine itself to empowering only specific groups of women but rather mainstream the gender perspective in all areas so that women's problems were perceived as challenges for humanity as a whole.

Lastly, it was the understanding of the delegations of Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua that paragraph 25 of the revised draft resolution referred to paragraphs 43 and 44 of the decision adopted by the General Council on 1 August 2004 since they had been discussed as a unit.

Lastly, she noted that much remained to be done in the field of women's rights and gender equality. The actions taken in that regard must not only target women's most pressing concerns, but also reach out to all women, especially those in particularly difficult situations.
