The African Union Special Envoy for Darfur and Chief Mediator, Dr. Salim Ahmed Salim, is utterly outraged by the attack on Abu Sarouj village in Western Darfur, which took place on the morning of Monday, 19 December 2005.

In my capacity as the representative of the current Chairman of the African Union (AU), I have the honour to forward herewith the statement of the spokesman of the African Union mediation for the inter Sudanese peace talks on the conflict in Darfur on the recent attack on Abu Sarouj village in Western Darfur, issued on 21 December 2005 (see annex).
