Dracunculiasis, also called guinea worm disease (GWD), is an infection by the guinea worm.

The first well known worm was the Internet Worm of 1988, which infected SunOS and VAX BSD systems.

It is partly based on the legend of the Lambton Worm.

Guinea worm disease has been known since ancient times.

In the last few decades, there has been a rise in the cultivation of dried nuts such as almonds, pistachios, and walnuts, especially in the region of Almyros.
