Mercifully, South Africa s Constitutional Court has ruled that the death penalty which South Africans eliminated at the same time we were liberated from apartheid is unconstitutional.

But to succeed we must be self appraising in our progress and, after two and a half years of freedom from dictatorship, we must also recognize that human rights development the heart of a free and democratic nation takes time.

Friendship, altruism, compassion, service all the perennial truths that we talked about that are part of all religion and all cultures once you stop trying to see the differences, these are the things in our own self interest, because they free us from our suffering and from disease.

For Germans this question was not easily answered, though clearly our family was liberated in every sense. The question then was this liberated for what?
