272. The principal means of raising the status of women are discussed at the end of chapter VII. Other means cited to achieve fertility goals and objectives were the integration of population goals and strategies into national development planning and the formulation of population policies.

Most loans for population assistance come from the World Bank, which supports reproductive health and family planning service delivery, population policy development, HIV AIDS prevention, and fertility and health survey and census work.

States parties should ensure that measures are taken to prevent coercion in regard to fertility and reproduction, and to ensure that women are not forced to seek unsafe medical procedures such as illegal abortion because of lack of appropriate services in regard to fertility control.
