Comment by the Administration. A report on the funding of after service health insurance benefits is being finalized for the consideration of the General Assembly at its sixtieth session.

With respect to the funding of after service health insurance, a report which is being finalized will contain proposals that will provide for the commencement of accruals and for initiating the process to fund such liabilities.

This amount is over and above disbursements by UNDP for after service health insurance, which are included as part of biennial support budget expenditure.

Activities include insurance and annuities, life insurance, retirement insurance, health insurance, and property casualty insurance.

The Tribunal continues to work with the Department of Management on issues relating to after service health insurance benefits (a recent actuarial report has been issued) and it will continue to monitor and take appropriate action.

It provides specific guidance for insurance supervisors and the insurance sector.

Provision is made for 126,200 (before recosting) for one General Service post to be funded by member organizations participating in the after service health insurance programme.

The obligatory health insurance funds are collected by the health insurance offices in cantons and Federation and Republika Srpska health insurance funds.

Social Insurance mitigates risks associated with unemployment, ill health, disability, work related injury and old age, such as health insurance or unemployment insurance.

Indeed, there is no market for other kinds of recession related insurance provided by the government, such as unemployment insurance, old age insurance, or disability insurance. Instead, the government merely sets an insurance premium and forces everyone to pay it.

As per Executive Board decision 2003 11 (E ICEF 2003 9 Rev.1), a reserve of 30 million was established in 2003 to cover contingent liabilities arising from after service health insurance for staff.
