Noting that the 2005 World Summit Outcome included a commitment to present for adoption a final draft United Nations declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples as soon as possible (A 60 L.1, para. 127), he said that his delegation supported the Special Rapporteur's proposal for the draft declaration to be a declaration of principles so that it would have a real impact on indigenous peoples.
