In the US, the protests of 2011 will have a lasting effect only if Occupiers remain organized and continue their work on fighting foreclosures.

They have also clearly understood the folly of violent resistance, and have made a dramatic shift to nonviolent action with the acceptance (and possibly encouragement) of the international community in order to maintain pressure on the occupiers.

Parallel to this, the use of land, water, food, the demolition of homes and the destruction of the general economy as a weapon against the occupied population have resulted in a deterioration of the living conditions in the OPT.

The occupying Power continued to flout the inalienable rights of the inhabitants of the occupied Arab territories in violation of the provisions of international conventions and agreements, especially the fourth Geneva Convention of 1949.

Palestinians understand that without pressure little change will take place. Maybe this is because feminism, unlike almost every other social movement, is not a struggle against a distinct oppressor it's not the ruling class or the occupiers or the colonizers it's against a deeply held set of beliefs and assumptions that we women, far too often, hold ourselves.
