He would like to know the composition of the people's committees, whether they included women, and whether the people's committees were familiar with the Convention.

The Chairmen of the three committees have held informal meetings in order to find new areas of cooperation and coordination among the Committees.

The Forum encourages national committees for the Decade, where those exist, to invite members of the Forum to participate in the activities of these committees.

It was recommended that more frequent joint meetings of the Bureaux and secretariats of the functional commissions be held so that detailed information regarding the work of the commissions could be exchanged.

A meeting of the Chairpersons of the functional commissions of the Economic and Social Council with the Bureau of the Council was held on 19 July 2004 to discuss measures to promote collaboration and cooperation among the functional commissions and between the functional commissions and the Council.

The fourth inter committee meeting decided that the Chairperson of the current inter committee meeting should report on the implementation of its recommendations at the beginning of the next inter committee meeting, before the election of the Chairperson of that meeting.

The positions of delegations regarding the recommendations of these four Committees have been made clear in the Committees and are reflected in the relevant official records.

The Convention secretariat could assist by preparing guidelines for committee establishment, with suggestions on their composition and work.

The inter committee meeting noted that certain matters raised in the recommendations of the third inter committee meeting had not been considered during the meeting and recommended that these issues be included in the agenda of the fifth inter committee meeting.

The inter committee meeting reaffirmed its earlier recommendation that each committee should adopt the practice of producing a list of issues and questions.
