The creation of three posts (1 P 5, 1 P 3 and 1 General Service (Other level)), the transfer of one post (P 4) from component 1 and the abolition of one post (P 4) would result in a net increase of three posts.

b. MINUSTAH. To assess the implementation of the MINUSTAH security mandate and the way ahead, taking into account the current capacity of the Haitian National Police and enhancing its coordination with MINUSTAH

There have been signs of improvement in the security situation following successful operations by MINUSTAH and the Haitian National Police, with a view to curbing the activities of illegal armed groups and reducing their activities.

Recalling the statements made by the Haitian authorities to the effect that the Government remains committed to upholding human rights, and encouraging further actions to improve the promotion, defence and guarantee of those rights,

That problem continues to have serious implications for the security situation, in particular with regard to the capacity of the Haitian National Police and MINUSTAH to operate effectively in Haiti.

Nothing can now stop the march towards pluralist and democratic elections, to be held in a climate of security ensured by the Haitian National Police, with the support of MINUSTAH.
