If you look at the first slide there, that's the temporal lobes, frontal lobes, parietal lobes, OK the lobes that constitute the brain.

So you have the prefrontal cortex here,

This area encircles the auditory cortex on the lateral sulcus the (part of the brain where the temporal lobe and parietal lobe meet).

Really, consciousness is seated in the frontal lobe.

Prefrontal cortex is an interesting brain area.

It's on the brain. It's called a lobotomy.

There are two dorsal fins, no anal fin, and unusually for sharks, the lower lobe of the caudal fin is longer than the upper lobe.

So you have the prefrontal cortex here, lighting up in red.

But lobotomy has a precise meaning, hasn't it?

Consideration for others is located in the prefrontal cortex.

The lobes of the brain most likely to be injured are the frontal and temporal lobes.

And in particular, one area of the temporal lobe is called the fusiform gyrus.

And you do that by measuring the relative activation of the left prefrontal cortex in the fMRI, versus the right prefrontal cortex.

And you do that by measuring the relative activation of the left prefrontal cortex in the fMRl, versus the right prefrontal cortex.

He implanted it on the back of the head, on the occipital lobe stimulating the visual cortex.

Now, you go to this one and you see how much more the frontal lobes are lighting up.

The frontal lobe contains most of the dopamine sensitive neurons in the cerebral cortex.

The temporal lobe is involved in primary auditory perception, such as hearing, and holds the primary auditory cortex.

The prefrontal cortex is the part of the brain that's rational, it makes rational decisions.

So this is a model of the human brain, and this is prefrontal cortex, right at the front.

And the temporal lobe hallucinations are all sense hallucinations, full of feeling, full of familiarity,

Repeated stress causes neurons in the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex to shrink and lose connections with other nerve cells, while it also causes neurons in the amygdala to grow and form new connections.

It goes to the nucleus accumbens, all the way up to the prefrontal cortex, orbital frontal cortex, where decisions are made, high level.
