(e) Small calibre ammunitions

Sometimes recalibration is needed by the suppliers.

International terrorism, transnational organized crime and local conflicts all exacerbate the negative impact on victims of the use of small arms and light weapons. The rising death toll linked to the use of light weapons has mobilized the international community to take steps to reduce the lethal impact of these weapons.

The next thing that I'd like to show you is something that Dunlop asked me to do earlier this year with our Channel Five's Fifth Gear Show.

Through this Commission, which is in charge of collecting and destroying small calibre small arms and light weapons, a pilot project for the collection of illicit weapons and support of sustainable development was set up in the N'Guigmi department (eastern part of the country).

Additionally, there are many examples of where self destruction mechanisms have been included in munitions (for example the Raufoss 25mm self destruct trace round) demonstrating the technical and economic feasibility of this design feature.

The three 14 year old boys, Hassan Ahmad Abu Zeid, Ashraf Moussa and Khaled Ghannam, were all killed from a single high calibre bullet one in the back, one in the head and one in the neck.
