Note by the Bureau of the Statistical Commission on follow up by the Bureau of decisions taken by the Commission at its thirty sixth session

The Secretary General has the honour to transmit to the Statistical Commission, for information, the note by the Bureau of the Commission on follow up actions taken by the Bureau since the thirty sixth session of the Commission.

It had before it the report of the Committee of Experts on Public Administration on its fourth session (E 2005 44, Supplement No. 24).

The Committee had before it the draft programme of work for the thirty seventh session, prepared by the Secretary General in consultation with the Chairperson of the Committee, and the report of the Committee on its thirty sixth session (CRC C 140).

The Commission took note with appreciation of the report of the Working Group on the work of its thirty sixth session (A CN.9 508).

Copies of the resolutions and the report of the Sixth Committee (A 59 509) will be made available at the thirty eighth session of the Commission.

International Tropical Timber Agreement. The International Tropical Timber Council, the governing body of ITTO, held its thirty sixth and thirty seventh sessions in 2004, both attended by the Forum secretariat.

At its 40th meeting, on 27 July, on the proposal of the President, the Council decided to defer consideration of the sub item to the organizational session of the Council for 2006.

At its thirty sixth session (Vienna, 30 June 11 July 2003), the Commission took note with appreciation of the reports of the Working Group on the work of its thirty seventh and thirty eighth sessions (A CN.9 523 and A CN.9 524, respectively).

The Committee of Experts on Environmental Economic Accounting was established by the Statistical Commission at its thirty sixth session, in March 2005.

The report of the Commission will be submitted to the Trade and Development Board at its thirty sixth executive session in April 2005.

The Commission took note of the suggestions made by the Bureau and agreed to implement some procedures on a trial basis for the thirty sixth session.

Subsequently, Cape Verde and Mexico indicated their preference for presentation of their reports at the thirty sixth session, in August 2006.

At its thirty sixth session, in March 2005, the Statistical Commission endorsed the proposal of the creation of a Committee of Experts on Environmental Economic Accounting.

The Economic and Social Council, in its decision 2005 244 of 22 July 2005, approved the provisional agenda and documentation for the thirty seventh session of the Commission as recommended by the Commission at its thirty sixth session.

It will appear in final form, together with the reports on the thirty sixth and thirty seventh executive sessions, the twenty second special session of the Board and its fifty second session, as Official Records of the General Assembly, Sixtieth Session, Supplement No. 15 (A 60 15).

At its thirty sixth executive session, the Trade and Development Board decided to convene a special session with a view to providing an input to the Millennium 5 Summit process.

It is also invited to select States for reporting at the thirty sixth through thirty eighth sessions, in August 2006 and in January and May 2007, to facilitate planning and preparation.

At its thirty fifth session (New York, 17 28 June 2002), the Commission adopted the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Conciliation. The Commission took note with appreciation of the report of the Working Group on the work of its thirty sixth session (A CN.9 508).
