The balance of 2.9 million is set aside to cover unforeseen security related costs during the remainder of 2005.

The percentage cancelled per child is 50 of the remaining loan balance (and in the case of every additional child born the state cancels further 50 of the remaining loan), in the case of twins the state cancels 75 and in the case of triplets 100 of the remaining loan amount.

Reimbursement commitments are reflected in the account only to the extent of available funds with the outstanding balance indicated by a footnote to the account.

Salvage

Owing to the overstatement of expenditures pertaining to the 2003 04 financial period shown in the report of the Secretary General on the financing of the United Nations Operation in Burundi dated 21 March 2005 (A 59 748), the unencumbered balance for the period was understated by 115,500 (gross and net).

The Advisory Committee was also informed that, as at 4 November 1992, the remaining available balance in the contingency fund is 15,237,100.

The amounts loaned for that purpose amounted to 59.7 million, leaving a cash balance of 4.9 million in the Peace keeping Reserve Fund.

The resulting unencumbered balance of 4,799,800 gross ( 5,544,600 net) represents, in gross terms, 2.5 per cent of the appropriation.
