And so we decided the most obvious place to start was with tickling.

Although the conscious part of your brain knows that the tickling sensation comes from you and isn t really unexpected, the cerebellum doesn t get it, and the tickling works.

And then we're going to ask them to rate a bunch of things including ticklishness.

Tickling appears to be caused by unexpected sensations on certain areas of the skin.

And we hypothesize based on the tickling study that when one child hits another, they generate the movement command.

So they actually think they've hit the person less hard than they have rather like the tickling.

Because the brain of a person trying to tickle herself anticipates the sensations that will be caused by her fingers a process performed within the cerebellum the sensation no longer tickles.
