The post modern realities of our grave present make a mockery of modernity.

The tide of modernism and then postmodernism has brought fame to American architects such as Frank Lloyd Wright, Philip Johnson, and Frank Gehry.

In Japan, for instance, which I think is the third largest market, they have a design law it protects apparel, but the novelty standard is so high, you have to prove that your garment has never existed before, it's totally unique.

Modernism took over in the 20th century.

Post modern crises entail post modern risks, resulting in disintegration and implosion of power vacuums, not the danger of classical wars.

But modernization à la carte is an illusion.

Its ancient biblical past can now coexist seamlessly with its ultra modern present.

The second was in the first half of the 20th century, during development of modernism.

This negation is connected with the complex and paradoxical nature of the concept of modernity.

It is a post modern or post sovereign currency.

This time, however, it is modernity, not exoticism, that is the source of fascination.

Transformation requires getting past denial, creating options for change, and supporting novelty and experimentation.

Indeed, our current predicament has all of the hallmarks of a post modern crisis.

High tech architecture created a new aesthetic in contrast with standard modern architecture.

Some would argue that gender equality is a consequence of the modernization process, not of Westernization.

Meeting this imperative entails both an enormous technological challenge and an opportunity to redefine the meaning of modernity.

After all, if China is America s main economic partner in Asia, and if India is America s main diplomatic partner, what is left for Japan?

There is no such thing, the post modern critic believes, as independence of thought.
