It is clear that long term efforts must be made to ensure strict compliance with international humanitarian law by all the actors involved.

First, all States should undertake a binding legal obligation to observe and respect international humanitarian law and refrain from and oppose genocide and war crimes.

I urge the Government of Israel to observe international law to ensure the rights and protection of Palestinian civilians, with particular emphasis on the right to health and the provision for expectant mothers and the ill to receive immediate access to medical care.

As regards the issue of intermediaries, the Slovak Republic addresses this issue within the UN, OSCE, NATO and other platforms, for instance in connection with the implementation of the OSCE document on small arms and light weapons and the related documents on brokering (Vassenaar Agreement, fire arms protocols, etc.), where the position of the Slovak Republic is completely identical with that of the EU.
