A geostationary orbit, geostationary Earth orbit or geosynchronous equatorial orbit (GEO) is a circular orbit above the Earth's equator and following the direction of the Earth's rotation.

These orbits, with low inclination to the Equator, allow rapid revisit times and have the lowest delta v requirement (i.e., fuel spend) of any orbit.

Now, those little barbs obviously stick to the insects well, but there is something else that we can tell from this photograph, and that is that you might be able to see a fracture line across what would be the equator of this, if it was the Earth.
