Members of the Assembly are elected for five year terms.

The members of this council need not be members of the legislature and are appointed by the president.

He noted that the current Chair of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) represented a Party that was not yet a Party to the Protocol and would therefore need to be replaced during the discussion of agenda items pertaining to the Protocol.

Finally, the Board recommended that members of the Board present in New York meet with the members of the Forum informally to exchange information and to meet with donors.

After consultations among members of the Security Council, I have been authorized to make the following statement on behalf of the Council

Members of the Council, representatives of the troop contributing countries and the briefers had an exchange of views.

Members of CEB are not quite clear about the merit of this recommendation.

Again, I thank the members of the Council for the ready support provided to the Tribunal for this endeavour.

If no member of the Council objects, I propose to give him the floor.

The Council members shared the Secretary General's assessment of the situation in Kosovo.

I should be grateful if you would bring this matter to the attention of the members of the Council.

After all, four members of the Contact Group are permanent members of this Council, and the other two have their own passion with regard to the issue of permanent membership in the Council.

My delegation commends the practice of holding informal briefings on the work of the Security Council for regional groups by members of the Council.

The Prime Minister and Ministers are drawn from, and remain, members of the legislature and they are ultimately responsible to the legislature which can remove them by a vote of no confidence.

Being elected by the entire membership of the General Assembly would make members more accountable and the body more representative.

I thank the members of the Council for the attention and time they have given me today.
