I don't get that at all.

I still do not really fully grasp why this debate is even necessary.

I understand that my ancestors were cruelly isolated in order to prevent contact between members of the same tribes and, consequently, prevent communication and insubordination.

For tens of thousands of years our ancestors understood the world through myths, and the pace of change was glacial. The rise of scientific understanding transformed the world within a few centuries. Why? Physicist David Deutsch proposes a subtle answer.

Why make such a statement, when it can bring only chagrin and despair to the victims, and comfort and solace to a criminal regime? How one can reconcile such contradictions is beyond me.
