I demand perfection and quality in everything.

The Arno is a river in the Tuscany region of Italy.

So I went back and dumped all my paintings in the Arno, and I thought, I'm going to just start playing around.

It is the most important river of central Italy after the Tiber.

It is situated on the south side of the River Arno, a short distance from the Ponte Vecchio.

On 9 February 1994 I appointed Mr. Jean Arnault as Moderator of the negotiations, the course of which he had been following since 1992 as a United Nations Observer.

The Security Council received a briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary General for Afghanistan, Jean Arnault, on the situation in Afghanistan and the work of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

We also welcome the efforts made by the Secretary General's Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. Jean Arnault, in the context of the reconstruction of Afghanistan's infrastructure and the restoration of security and stability in the country.

In February 1994, I assigned the role of Moderator to Mr. Jean Arnault, who had been participating in the peace talks as my Observer since June 1992.

In conclusion, I would like to pay tribute to the efforts of my Special Representative, Jean Arnault, and to the dedication demonstrated by the men and women of UNAMA and its partner organizations.

On 24 June, the Council heard a public briefing by the Special Representative of the Secretary General in Afghanistan, Jean Arnault, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, Antonio Costa.

After a period of suspension, the talks were resumed last January and, with Mr. Jean Arnault presiding as moderator, they succeeded in finalizing several agreements, including one on the negotiations for a firm and lasting peace.

There is every reason to congratulate Secretary General Boutros Boutros Ghali, Under Secretary General Marrack Goulding and the Moderator, Mr. Jean Arnault, on the determined leadership shown by the United Nations in the negotiations between the Government of Guatemala and the Unidad Revolucionaria Nacional Guatemalteca (URNG).

In accordance with the understanding reached in the Council's prior consultations, the President, with the consent of the Council, extended an invitation under rule 39 of the Council's provisional rules of procedure to Jean Arnault, Special Representative of the Secretary General for Afghanistan and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan.
