The risk assessment concluded that human exposure to chrysotile is associated with an excess risk of asbestosis, lung cancer and mesothelioma.

This confirmed that all forms of asbestos can cause lung cancer, mesothelioma, and asbestosis and that no threshold level of exposure could be identified below which asbestos does not pose carcinogenic risks.
