Norwegian institutes are doing research in several fields relevant to the objectives of the International Geosphere Biosphere programme and other international global climate change programmes.

The Program also works in collaboration with other research programmes, such as the Global Ocean Observing System of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and International Geosphere Biosphere Programme.41

The Federal Republic of Germany apos s research programmes have been incorporated into major international programmes such as the World Climate Research Programme and the International Geosphere and Biosphere Programme.

The ongoing work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the World Climate Programme (WCP) and the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme (IGBP) are all based in part on space observations.

8. Matters relating to life sciences, including space medicine progress in national and international space activities related to the Earth environment, in particular progress in the geosphere biosphere (global change) programme matters

The World Climate Research Programme and the International Geosphere Biosphere Programme must be seen as the main mechanisms by which the scientific community worldwide is mobilized to provide improved understanding of the climate system.
