The COP and COP MOP rely on their Parties to extend hospitality to the sessions of the COP and COP MOP.

A decision on the venue of COP 12, and COP MOP 2, must be adopted at COP 11.

Action The COP MOP will be invited to take note of any decision adopted at COP 11 on the date and venue for COP 12.

The possible elements for COP 11 have been modelled on the provisional agendas for recent COP sessions.

A welcoming ceremony would be held to mark the opening of COP 11 and COP MOP 1 on Monday, 28 November Following the welcoming ceremony, the President of COP 10 would open COP 11.

In the period following the sixth session of the COP (COP 6) these activities have focused on four main areas, in accordance with decision 3 COP.6

Since the sixth session of the COP, the secretariat has continued to facilitate activities of the Committee on Science and Technology (CST) follow up on related decisions taken by the COP.
