Purely digital microscopes are now available which use a CCD camera to examine a sample, showing the resulting image directly on a computer screen without the need for eyepieces.

These workshops were attended by 400 people from 130 countries (operational focal points of the GEF, GEF regional coordinators, accredited NGOs, CCD focal points, and representatives of regional and sub regional organizations).
