The COP and GEF Council each adopt the MOU.

On 12 February 2002, this draft MOU was approved by the Cabinet, which authorised the AMLO Secretary General to sign the MOU with other Egmont Group Financial Intelligence Units (FIUs).

Negotiations to sign the MOU are underway with a number of other countries, including Canada, Colombia, Japan, Malaysia and Panama.

The MOU elaborates how the GEF will take into consideration the policies, strategies, and priorities agreed upon by the COP.

The MoU with ICRISAT refers also to the potential of ICRISAT's programmes to support the meeting of capacity building needs under the Convention.

On July 28, 2011, Ford India signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State of Gujarat for the construction of an assembly and engine plant in Sanand, and planned to invest approximately on a 460 acre site.

For each of these conventions, the GEF enters into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Conference of the Parties that sets out the relationship between the COP and the GEF.

The MOU clearly provides a means for, inter alia, determining and communicating guidance, the GEF conforming with guidance provided, reconsidering funding decisions under the Convention, and reporting of information from the GEF.

In order for the MOU between the COP and the GEF to be made operational for the Kyoto Protocol, the COP MOP will have to give its approval by confirming the arrangements.

Since then, the COP has provided guidance to the GEF in accordance with the MOU, and the GEF has reported to the COP on how it has implemented the guidance provided by the COP.

In August 2004, the Government of the British Virgin Islands and the Government of the United States of America signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) related to the oil spill near the Territory's shores.
