This is not to deny that migration has downsides.

This is in an attempt to ensure revenues trickles down, averting the resource curse.

Over the last decade the Yemeni Government has therefore followed a clear policy aimed at restoring stability in Somalia, ending the civil war there and supporting the central Government.

The unstable conditions in Somalia are a direct threat to the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen, as they lead both to insecurity and to large scale migration of Somalis to Yemen, which has considerable adverse consequences.

But migration is here to stay, and it is growing. There can be no return to a monoethnic past, so successful societies will need to adapt to diversity.

So, there are significant downsides to these changes as well as upsides. And of course, in the current environment, one need allude only lightly to the work of non state actors trying to influence global affairs, and taking advantage of these.

One downside of such a prospect that Iran would likely retaliate against US interests and personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan, and, using Hamas and Hezbollah, against Israel and others.

If soldiers and, by extension, all real men are strong and daring, then real women should be the antithesis passive, obedient, and in need of protection as good wives, sisters, and mothers.
