The distinction between inorganic and organic compounds is not always clear.

The members of the Committee shall be elected for a term of four years.

Further consultations with the organic sector took place in the context of the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) Conference on Organic Agriculture and Biodiversity and the IFOAM Organic Coffee Conference.

However, there is a clear need to develop this idea further in order for us to be able to conclude that it is preferable to a Commission on Human Rights with universal membership.

It was proposed that the membership in the new Council should be based on (a) election by a two thirds majority of the General Assembly (b) ratification of international human rights conventions and other human rights instruments and a solid record of their observance and (c) acceptance by members of a periodic review of their human rights record.
