Trying to understand the Hermit Kingdom can be like staring into a black hole.

In April 2008, RXTE data was used to infer the size of the smallest known black hole.

If it has a mass greater than about , it collapses further to become a black hole.

A supermassive black hole with a mass of 1011 (100 billion) will evaporate in around 2 1099 years.

IGR J17091 3624 (also IGR J17091) is a stellar mass black hole 28,000 light years away.

And I hope, if nothing else, I've convinced you that, one, we do in fact have a supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy.

And we know what they are. Billions of years ago, and billions of light years away, the material at the center of a galaxy collapsed towards a super massive black hole.

They're literally the sounds of space ringing, and they will travel out from these black holes at the speed of light as they ring down and coalesce to one spinning, quiet black hole at the end of the day.

Meanwhile, the core becomes a stellar remnant a white dwarf, a neutron star, or (if it is sufficiently massive) a black hole.

I'm interested in finding whether or not there is a really massive, what we like to call supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy.

And the Greek government faces an endless succession of budget cuts, with each step being more difficult than the last as the economy spirals down a black hole.

The decay time for a supermassive black hole of roughly 1 galaxy mass (1011 solar masses) due to Hawking radiation is on the order of 10100 years, so entropy can be produced until at least that time.

So, what I want to tell you, very briefly, is a few examples of the excitement of what we can do today at the center of the galaxy, now that we know that there is, or at least we believe, that there is a supermassive black hole there.

You know, 10 years ago, or 15 years ago, really, you walk into an astronomy convention, and you say, You know, there's probably a black hole at the center of every galaxy, and they're going to hoot you off the stage.
