At the end of 2004, the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan and the Society for the Blind together introduced a Braille version of the Holy Koran, making Uzbekistan the third country in the world to undertake such a good deed.

In line with the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Committee, the Department was exploring innovative measures for the provision of selected documents in Braille.

The Committee was addressed by the Secretary of the Ad Hoc Committee who stated that the most urgent need was for official documentation relating to the work of the Ad Hoc Committee to be made available in both electronic format and Braille.

Louis Braille (, , 4 January 1809 6 January 1852) was a French educator and inventor of a system of reading and writing for use by the blind or visually impaired.

It urged the Secretariat to continue ensuring, as it did in past years, that the special requirements of the Ad Hoc Committee were taken into account in conference room scheduling and to explore ways of providing the required documentation in electronic form and Braille.
