This mountainous town, situated on the banks of the Kunhar River, has been destroyed.

You know, if you're out there and you see buildings horribly destroyed and down in that direction, less destroyed here, then you know that it was over there, the blast, and you're going this way, as long as you're going crosswise to the wind.

Before proceeding with my statement, I would like to reiterate, on my own account, and on behalf of the Government and the people of Spain, my most sincere condolences and solidarity to the authorities and to the people of the United States of America, as host country of our Organization, with respect to the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which has claimed so many victims and caused so much destruction.

Ms. Dovzhenko (Ukraine) (spoke in Russian) At the outset, on behalf of the Government of Ukraine, I would like to express our sincere condolences to the peoples of the countries that were stricken by the unprecedented natural disaster that occurred on 26 December 2004, which claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and caused enormous material and environmental damage.
