In relation to the Spanish Agency funded project, the Institute also received funds from the National Institute for Women (Instituto Nacional de las Mujeres (INMUJERES)) of Mexico, intended to cover its participation in the project.

It works together with the WHO Regional Office for Africa, and with the African AIDS Vaccine Programme for the HIV AIDS project in Africa.
