The Office carries out its activities in cooperation with other departments and offices of the Secretariat.

(a) Departments and offices that require additional general legal assistance should consult the Office of Legal Affairs for advice on the most effective options to address their needs, the preferred option being the outposting of OLA officers

The Governor appoints, with the advice and consent of the Legislature, the heads of the executive departments and has the power to approve or veto legislation and issue executive orders.

The interim measures used by departments were outlined in the report they were short term and could not be sustained.

As regards its precursor control activities, however, the Board has called upon the General Assembly to respond to the strong recommendation of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and provide the secretariat with the necessary resources to maintain the activities of the Board in that regard

The responsible ministerial form of government would necessitate reform of the public service and the relationship between the departments and the government.

These generic management systems appear in virtually all large scale administrations and act as enablers with respect to policy implementation.

22. Encourages the Secretary General to strengthen the coordination between the Department of Public Information and other departments of the Secretariat, and emphasizes that public information capacities and activities in other departments should function under the guidance of the Department

The Committee welcomes the statistics provided by the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management concerning compliance by author departments (A 60 112, annex).

Bodies that provide common services and perform integrated functions across departments and work groups will become major partners of United Nations libraries.

The Joint Electoral Management Body established a Gender Section, which worked closely with departments of the Managing Body active in areas such as public outreach, training and capacity building.

I promise to give full support to the working group on the revitalization of the General Assembly.

However, the potential value of that body has been lost in recent years, as its members have been unable or unwilling to reach agreement on an agenda.

The transfer of MOTAPM to any recipient other than a State or State agency authorized to receive such transfers should be prohibited.

The General Assembly, as the most representative body of the Organization, must be at the forefront of the reform process.

It appears that the Commission, a subsidiary body of the General Assembly an Assembly which reform minded representatives would like to see strengthened is telling the Assembly and the world at large that the Commission may perhaps be unable to fulfil its mandate and to undertake its responsibilities.

Being elected by the entire membership of the General Assembly would make members more accountable and the body more representative.

27.5 The Department carries out its activities in cooperation with other departments and offices of the Secretariat, entities of the United Nations system and entities external to the United Nations, including intergovernmental, interregional, regional and national organizations, NGOs and academic communities.

Report of the Secretary General

In the same resolutions, the General Assembly reiterated its request that the Secretary General direct all departments to include, where appropriate, the following elements in reports originating in the Secretariat

He had understood that the Secretariat was bound by the principle of collective responsibility and had been disappointed to hear one department lay blame on another.

With sufficient resources, and a determination not to compromise on quality, the Extraordinary Chambers can provide a measure of justice for the victims and an example of law's power to serve the public good.

It nevertheless wondered how those outputs had been selected, how the exercise would streamline the work of departments and what savings would be made.

Notes the insufficient level of collaboration between the Department of Political Affairs, the Department of Peacekeeping Operations and the Department of Field Support, of the Secretariat, with respect to special political missions, and requests the Secretary General to ensure systemic cooperation so as to prevent duplication among the three departments

10. Encourages the Secretary General to strengthen further consultative arrangements between the Department of Public Information and other substantive departments of the Secretariat, in particular those dealing with development issues
